In an effort to continue with the tradition of serving the youth and providing scholarships to the future leaders in the Prince Georges County, the Bowie/Mitchellville (MD) Alumni Chapter’s Diamond Foundation hosted its 8th annual benefit auction and dinner. Last year’s benefit auction raised $5,000 towards scholarships for the local youth. This year’s event proved to be successful in meeting its goal of doubling that amount. Over $10,000 was raised. Some of the items up for auction included a Michael Jordan framed and signed jersey, a trip for two to the Grammy Awards, and a 56 passenger luxury bus, just to name a few. Prince Georges County Council Member Obie Patterson gave the keynote address. It was a great time had by all.
