Community Engagement at Van Duyn Elementary School

With a 102-year long commitment to social action and civic affairs, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated continues to maintain its legacy in the Syracuse area. On on Thursday, September 5th, members of the Syracuse (NY) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and the Syracuse University Chapter, Delta Beta of Kappa Alpha Psi, selflessly gave of their time to Van Duyn Elementary School (Home of the CHAMPS). They welcomed students back to school with a hardy breakfast and a fun filled place of festive activities.
“It was a great pleasure to see men with smiles and words of encouragement for these young students,” Principal Eva Williams stated, “the staff and faculty appreciate the service the men of Kappa Alpha Psi has provided.”
About 70 volunteers participated in the community service. The brothers were providing positive words of encouragements. Handed out school supplies, to prepare every child with the materials they need for the academic school year. They informed students how important it is to continue onto high education. Implementing the meaning of CHAMPS; having courage, working hard at both personal and scholastic achievements with positive motivation and great persistent to be the best scholar they can be.
