On Saturday November 19, 2011 the Jacksonville Area Coalition of Kappas [J.A.C.K.] volunteered with the Clara White Mission for the 17th Annual Feed the City Luncheon in downtown Jacksonville, FL. Citizens and organizations from around the Jacksonville area came out to lend their time to the less fortunate for this “block party” style event to give to those in need. A Thanksgiving meal was served to approx. 850 people throughout the day. 93.3 The Beat and V101.5 radio stations broadcasted on location and entertainment was provided by local talent. The Mission was founded by a former slave whose compassion for humanity moved her to action. The Mission has existed for more than 100 years, dedicated to serving the needs of the less fortunate in the Jacksonville community. The Clara White Mission offers meals for the hungry, transitional housing for the homeless, & vocational programs to put people to work. The Mission helps feed over 10,000 homeless men, women and children every year.
