Interview with J. Ernest Wilkins

For a quarter century, J. Ernest Wilkins served as the Grand Keeper of Records and Exchequer of Kappa Alpha Psi, handing nearly all the duties that are now undertaken in the International Headquarters. He was the fraternity's 13th Grand Polemarch, serving from 1947 to 1950. In 1954, Wilkins was appointed by President Dwight Eisenhower as Undersecretary of Labor for International Labor Affairs, thus becoming the first African American to have a sub-cabinet position. This is an interview of Wilkins in a nationally televised news interview.

The Brothers of Hendersonville Alumni hosted the Kids Need School Supplies Fall Drive with donations and proceeds going to support Vena Stuart Elementary School in Gallatin, TN. The school supplies were presented to the children and parents at a special program hosted by the Vena Stuart PTO. Pictured with the fraternity are Principal Dr. Brenda Valentine and Assistant Principal Gregg Pursley.

On October 8th the Brothers of Hendersonville Alumni participated in a Habitat for Humanity construction build; they were proud to put the final touches on the house which is of both quality craftsmanship and affordable. The brothers were also on hand for the presentation of the keys to a deserving family from the community.

The Hendersonville Alumni Chapter was proud to support this year’s electoral process by exercising their voting rights, promoting the Keeping African Americans Political-Political Action Committee (KAPPAC) initiatives and volunteering their services to the Davidson County Election Commission.
