On Saturday, January 12, 2013, the members of the Xi Lambda chapter competed and volunteered in the Jacksonville Alumni Chapter’s inaugural 5K Healthy Fit and Smart Family Run/Walk at the Jacksonville Landing in Jacksonville, FL. With nearly 300 runners registered, the promotion of healthy living & exercise to the Jacksonville African-American community and the community-at-large was reinforced. Proceeds raised from this event were contributed to the Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation-Jacksonville and the Sickle Cell Association. This event was the first of its kind hosted by a Black Greek Letter organization in the city of Jacksonville. The volunteer assistance and participation from the undergraduate brothers was key in making this initiative a success. Xi Lambda Chapter Polemarch Egbert Johnson placed 2nd in his age bracket.
